STAR provides support primarily to survivors of sexual assault. Our advocacy, counseling and legal services are available to survivors aged 12 and older at no cost, and are intended to assist you at any stage of your healing. Our staff creates a safe, supportive, confidential environment where survivors of any race, ethnicity, religion, gender, age, class or sexual orientation are welcomed and supported.

Metro provides support to victims of sexual violence for those in New Orleans but also the surrounding areas of Jefferson, St. Tammany, and River Parishes. Metro staff and volunteers are trained in crisis intervention and can offer limited placement in emergency shelters and make appropriate referrals. Metro also offers individual and group sessions for children who have experienced abuse such as domestic violence or sexual assault.ShelterA safe, temporary, emergency shelter is available for a victim of domestic violence if needed. Metro has a staff attorney available to assist clients who have suffered domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault and /or stalking with determining the appropriateness of seeking an Order of Protection through the civil judicial system. The staff attorney assists clients in filing the Petition for Protection from Abuse and the Temporary Restraining Order and provides support and representation at court hearings.
